Private beta

Your AI team, always on.

Mates are AI teammates with a name, a job and a memory. They work across your apps, hand tasks to each other and only ping you when a decision is needed.

Free desktop app for Mac, Windows and Linux. Works with your ChatGPT plan, GitHub Copilot or your own API keys.

A mate is a teammate, not a chatbot.

Each mate has one clear job and gets better at it. You set it up in plain words, like briefing a new colleague.

Piper

Inbox triage

Checks your inbox every weekday at 7:30 AM

How it should work

“Every morning, read my inbox, tell me what needs me and draft the replies. Never send anything without my OK.”

Plain words. No prompt engineering.

Remembers

Sara at Lumen Records prefers calls on Tuesdays. Invoices go in the Finance label.

You can read and edit everything a mate remembers.

Uses

Gmail, Google Calendar and its own browser

Connectors for Slack, Notion, GitHub and dozens more apps, plus any MCP server.

Asks first

Before sending an email or deleting anything

Sending, publishing, buying, deleting and changes to your files or apps wait for your OK.

Each mate can use a different model.

A day with your mates

One ordinary Tuesday, four different lives. Pick the one closest to yours.

Family: Two kids, a full-time job and one family calendar.

  1. Piper

Morning! 31 new emails, two need you: Mia’s school trip moved to Thursday, and the dentist wants you to confirm Friday at 4 PM.

    You: Confirm the dentist, please.

    Piper

Here’s the reply: “Friday at 4 PM works for us. Thank you!” OK to send?

  2. You: Leo wants swimming lessons. Can we fit them in after school?

    Atlas

Tuesdays are free after 4:30. @Nova, can you find lessons near home that start after 5?

    Nova

Found one: the city pool, Tuesdays at 5:15. Sign-ups open tomorrow at 6 AM and fill up fast.

  3. You: Can you sign Leo up at 6 sharp?

    Nova

Sure. At 6 AM I’ll fill in the form in my browser and ask for your OK on your phone. You can stay in bed.

Studies: Final year, a thesis due in May and a part-time job.

  1. You, Voice message: 0:02

    “What’s my day like?”

    Atlas

Seminar at 10, then your café shift from 4 to 8. You’re free from 1 to 3: a good slot for chapter 2.

    VoiceTalk instead of typing

  2. You: I need three recent studies on sleep and memory. Real ones, with links.

    Nova

Here are three, all peer-reviewed and from the last two years, each with a link. Two disagree about naps: I marked where.

  3. You: Can you read chapter 2 before I send it?

    Moon

Done. It’s 8,600 words and Prof. Ricci asked for 8,000 at most, so here are three paragraphs you could cut.

  4. You: Tell Prof. Ricci that chapter 2 is ready.

  3. You, Voice message: 0:04

    Moon

Here’s a first draft, built like the Lumen one. I left the dates and numbers for you.

  4. You: Anything from Kite?

    Piper

Tom paid an hour ago and thanked you for the nudge. @Gizmo, can you mark invoice 0412 as paid?

    Gizmo

Done. You’ve allowed me to update your sheets without asking. Nothing else is overdue this month.

Startup: Six people, one product and a launch next week.

  1. Bolt

Three customers in #support say checkout crashes. I reproduced it in my browser: an empty coupon code breaks payment.

    You: Can you fix it?

    Bolt

I’ll hand it to Claude Code, with a test for empty coupons. OK to start?

Questions

Anything else? Write to hello@nextmates.app.

What exactly is a mate?

An AI teammate with a name, a job and a memory. You chat with it like with a colleague; it uses your apps and its own browser to get things done, and checks with you before anything important.

Does my data leave my computer?

With the desktop app, your mates, chats, memory and files stay on your computer. Conversations go only to the AI provider you pick to run your mates, and to the apps you connect. None of this is stored on our servers unless you turn on NextMates Cloud. If you sign in, we keep only your account: your email address and the devices you sign in on.

Where does NextMates Cloud run?

On servers in the European Union. Each account runs in its own isolated space, and keys and tokens are stored encrypted.

Which AI models can my mates use?

Your ChatGPT plan (sign in with ChatGPT), GitHub Copilot, API keys from Anthropic, OpenAI, OpenRouter, Google Gemini, xAI, Groq, Mistral and DeepSeek, or local models through Ollama and LM Studio. Each mate can use a different model. In the cloud, mates use your API keys or NextMates credits; your ChatGPT plan and local models work with mates on your computer.

How much will it cost?

The desktop app is free. NextMates Cloud will come in two plans: Cloud, with your own API keys, and Cloud Plus, with AI credits included every month, so you don’t need an API key. Prices will be announced at launch; the private beta is free.

Will my mates do things without asking?

Only what you allow. Reading and research happen on their own; sending, publishing, buying, deleting and changes to your files or apps wait for your OK, unless you allow an action for good.

Does it work on Windows, Linux or my phone?

Yes. The desktop app runs on Mac, Windows and Linux. With NextMates Cloud you can also use your mates from your phone: in the browser today, with apps for iPhone and Android coming.

How does the private beta work?

We invite people in small groups. Request access with the form above and we’ll email you an invite. During the beta things change quickly, and your feedback shapes what we build.
